Alcohol is relevant to gout, but “never drink again” is not a useful substitute for evidence. The NHS says alcohol can increase uric acid and excessive alcohol may exacerbate gout flares.
Think in patterns, not punishments
A night out combines several things at once: alcohol, dehydration, larger meals, later sleep and sometimes travel. If you track flares, record the context rather than automatically blaming one drink.
Practical context
UK NHS advice is to include alcohol-free days and not regularly exceed 14 units a week. Your own medical circumstances may mean different advice applies.
